Tao Le, MD, MHS, is Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the University of Louisville. He is also affiliated with the Division of Allergy and Immunology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Better than I expected

Definitely one of the best books you can find in the market for the step 1.
When I read these two books, I alwasy feel like I am reading my own notes, which means the way the book is written is crystal clear and very easy to read. Frankly these books are way better written than Kaplan lecture notes (which I personally think is very messy and not that easy to follow). These books are also very good for the class as well. Honestly way better than any lecture note given in the class.
One weakness of these books is you really have to beef up the Anatomy, Embryology and Pharmaco parts. They are just not enough. Especially Anatomy and Embryo. Biochem, Micro, Physiology and Patho are more than enough, so just use any Anatomy, Embryo and Pharm book (Choose a thin book) to make your preparation complete. Don't rely on these books for these areas.
Also, you have to use the First Aid as well because, stragely enough, some materials in the First aid are missing in these books. As these are way thicker than the First aid, so they are way more in detail, but, I don't know why, some information is missing in these two books. Not that much info is missing, but still...;;;
Overall, I could understand why the author is so successful as a writer after I read these two books. They know how to write a clear explanation and organize the necessary info nicely.

Good for what it is - a quick review, use your notes w/it

So far, I have used these books for a few weeks and they're not that bad. They cover many high yield topics, but you won't find all the details you want in just these 1500 pages, so you're going to need to use your notes, lecture slides or text book to compliment this series.
For about $110 it's absolutely worth it. Best to be used as some kind of general review before a practice exam, using your notes to fill in any gaps you might have or they may have missed.
As can be seen from the images I uploaded, they're very user friendly and they have very adequate coverage of all the topics you'll need to cover, including Behavioral science & statistics.

I love these books.

These books are basically the first two years of school canonized and made available for far less than the cost of tuition. The green one is more or less first year, the red one is pretty much gold in second. If you are about to start your first year read the green one over summer (well, do that or watch the Ackland video anatomy atlas). If you are about to start second year read the red one after you get back from your mission trip to Africa or wherever. You will thank me later.
The regular first aid is of course a must as well, but that is way less interesting and isn't really designed for learning; it's a review book. These you can actually learn from. This plus goljan is a solid place to start.
Cannot recommend these (or the video atlas) highly enough.
